HE SAID YES! Three ladies in with a chance of ‘Getting him to the altar’ this leap year

According to a recent survey (chillisauce.co.uk) 29% of women think Valentine’s Day would be the perfect occasion for their partners to pop the question – but thanks to a certain leap year tradition, three women took matters into their own hands over the Valentine’s weekend by getting down on one knee and now the public can vote for their favourite proposal!

In homage to the most romantic day of the year – Emma Jones from Port Talbot, Rebecca Spruce from Swansea and Ceri Munro also from Port Talbot ‘took the leap of faith’ live on local radio. What’s more the unique proposals were heard by over 149,000 listeners who were tuned into local radio station, 96.4FM The Wave to hear the verdict.

Emma Jones proposed in front of 20,000 football fans and asked her partner to marry her as she stood on the middle of the Liberty Stadium during Swansea City’s match against Southampton last Saturday. Rebecca Spruce did it during ‘a romantic date’ at The Odeon Cinema on Valentine’s Night. While Ceri Munro surprised her unsuspecting groom-to-be by proposing at the radio station on Valentine’s morning, he under the impression he was being interviewed for his charity work, little did he know his girlfriend was waiting in the wings!

96.4FM The Wave teamed up with award winning wedding venue, Oldwalls Gower to offer ‘daring ladies’ the chance to win the wedding of their dreams if they were prepared to propose live on air. Hundreds of women applied to ‘take the leap of faith’. Three of the best proposal ideas were shortlisted and the women were set to task on Valentine’s Weekend. All three unsuspecting men of course said YES!

Andrew Hole, Managing Director of Oldwalls Gower said: “Times have changed and in today’s modern society why shouldn’t women propose to their love of their lives and leap year is the perfect opportunity! Naturally we like to celebrate romantic occasions at Oldwalls so teaming up with The Wave to offer one worthy couple the chance to win the wedding of their dreams excited us. The Leap of Faith idea was inspired by our epic Get Me to the Altar video that we released back in September and the Valentine’s proposals were most definitely creative! We wish all three couples the best of luck.”

The Live Proposals were filmed by Wales based videographers, WeCreate and voting closes on Tuesday 23rd February. In true XFactor fashion the general public must vote for their favourite one, the proposal with the most votes will then win a magical whirlwind wedding set to take place on Thursday 14th April 2016 at the exclusive Gower venue.

Helen Bowden, Station Director: “As it is a leap year this year we wanted to do something different on air. To be able to give away a magical wedding at the spectacular Oldwalls is just amazing and this has attracted the attention of so many of our listeners. We had a huge number of entries and the lucky three need to work hard now to gain votes, with more than 1,500 votes already registered this is set to be a tough competition. All the very best to all three and well done to the wonderfully brave women who took this year’s leap year to the limit!”

In addition to the five star venue complete with magnificent marquee, private bar, ceremony room and accommodation the generous prize includes a dress, wedding cars, photographer, videographer, photobooth and flowers donated by some of Wales’ leading wedding suppliers. The total prize value will be worth more than £20,000.
